- You should never try to remove the microSD card from CHOMPI while it is powered on.
- Remove microSD card from CHOMPI
- Carefully remove the microSD card from the slot located on the right side of the rear panel, next to the handle.
- TIP: The slot is designed with a round hole in the center that nicely fits a 3.5mm cable end, ballpoint pen, or something similar.
- NOTE: The card is spring loaded so watch for any flying SD cards ;)
- Insert microSD card into your computer.
- Using a standard microSD card adapter, load the card onto your computer just like any other external hard drive or storage device
- Backup your files (optional but recommended).
- Now is a great time to take a second and backup your files and presets that are currently being stored on the card.
- It’s good practice to select all of the files in the root directory of the card and simply copy them into a new folder on your computer.
- Erase old options.json file
- Move the old options file from the microSD card into the trash of your computer.
- Remember to “empty the trash” of your computer before moving to the next step.
- Copy new options.json file onto microSD card.
- Move / copy the new options file that you wish to use with CHOMPI onto the root directory of the microSD card (NO FOLDERS).
- Remember: No duplicate options files.
- Eject microSD card from your computer.
- Safely remove the microSD card from your computer by using the “Eject” option.
- Reinstall microSD card back into CHOMPI.
- Carefully reinsert the microSD card back into CHOMPI.
- WARNING: due to the way the panel enclosure is designed, it is possible to miss the card slot and drop your microSD card into the enclosure. If this happens, simply remove one of the side panels and shake the microSD card out.
- Plug in CHOMPI to power source and turn on.
- We recommend plugging in CHOMPI to a USB power source for this next part.
- Flip the power switch towards the lightning bolt icon to boot up CHOMPI
- Wait for the LED animation to complete
- Once you see the “rainbow” animation on the LEDs, you should be good to go!
- NOTE: if CHOMPI does not recognize the microSD card when it boots up, the upper row of LEDs will blink RED. If this happens, power off the device, re-insert the microSD card and try again.
- Your CHOMPI should now have the new options set and is ready to use!
